Your hostel is close to Sol Square (Madrid's centre) and near "Huertas" when people go out until dawn. Daily menu are cheap abour 9 or 10 euros with main course, second course and dessert, i advsie you "Fresco" it's a restaurant where give buffet for 8,25 €.

I am sure you gonna love Madrid! The city is beautiful and its people more! Anyway, about the hostels is should say that they are very different. Cat's is a youth hostel with dorms and great common spaces while the other is more like budget hotel. cat's is a lot more fun and with more young people but it depends on what you are looking for.

Yeah Madrid is awesome. The back streets are a bit so so, but the main city centre is great.
Plus everything looks better by day, you know where you are.
Anyway hope you enjoy the Pearl Jam concert.
Try and see as much as possible, and when looking for a meal, look for a all-in-one they cost about 12 euros, around the main square anyway.

I have a few plans this sumer not surprising they are all involving Italy. Going to Rome for 2 weeks with my friends Alessio and Claudio, then Alessio will be coming to my house because he wants to try and see London a bit more! After this though, i am jetting off to Sunny Sardinia for a week! Also going to Spain and maybe France, not sure of the latter yet, how about u, anywhere nice this summer?

Sorry i didnt get back to you.
Las Ramblas is a place to stay away from especially for young children at night. Probably better off to stay in the city centre. The place i stayed at was right in the centre easy access to everything. Hope that helps but if it too late, then i hope you enjoyed your stay in Barcelona.
